Some indefinite pronouns - such as all and some – are singular or plural depending on what they are referring to - whether they are countable or uncountable nouns.

​

EXAMPLES:

​

All of the milk has gone bad.

(milk is uncountable and is singular. The verb has, must agree and be singular)

​

All of the guests are late!

(guests is countable and is plural. The verb are, must agree and be plural)

 

None of the water is from the river.

(uncountable / singular)

 

None of the cakes are delicious.

(countable / can be plural)

​

 

Some of the money was stolen.

(uncountable / singular)

 

Some of the players are tired.

(countable / can be plural)
